If writing is an art form, then blogging is one way to create art via the use of words. This is because those who blog are artistic in their own right, carefully selecting words to best express their emotions, opinions, aspirations, desires, and everything else.

Essentially, blogs began as weblogs, which refer to a “server’s log file.” It was invented when online logging became popular in the virtual world. Since the mid-1990s, web logging has gradually permeated the virtual community, transforming the Internet into a potential source of additional information.

However, while weblogging requires a website and domain names, blogging requires nothing more than a blog service account. Generally, these kind of blogs are free.

With the advent of blogging in the industry, personal journaling has become a popular medium for those seeking global recognition. However, this is not a case of being famous in the literal sense, as this is not a case of being a popular or well-known figure.

Blogs are often designed for personal use. As with a journal, individuals can communicate their everyday activities, thoughts, and any ideas they wish online.

Nonetheless, with the emergence of internet enterprises, blogs steadily gained prominence in terms of providing businesses with an opportunity to increase their productivity online. This is where business blogs have risen to prominence.

Business blogs are mostly used to promote the services or goods of a particular website or online business with the goal of increasing online sales.

Additionally, business blogs serve as a means of promoting the company, letting other readers know that it exists online. Through blogs, entrepreneurs can develop a presence in the virtual market by writing articles that are beneficial to the reader’s life.

From there, you can earn money by syndicating your blog to your business’s website. This can be accomplished using RSS technology.

Make your blog as interactive as feasible and as much as your capacity allows. This can be accomplished by including video or audio clips in your blog.

You can even include a section for comments or feedback. This way, you can elicit the opinions and responses of others. Who knows, you might even make some new friends simply by ensuring that they feel at ease on your blog site.

Why Should You Blog?

Well… I checked Alexa and saw that this blog is on the verge of breaking into the top 10,000 most visited websites on the Internet. I’ve had success with a variety of techniques that are unique to blog promotion. I felt it was past time to compose a blog marketing post… BUT WAIT! I haven’t even mentioned why I’m maintaining this site. I can’t really begin promoting your blog without first explaining why I have one and why you should as well; now can I?

Search engine ranking data was important in my initial Internet success. I’d just develop high-ranking websites for a certain market and sell the traffic generated by those websites directly to individuals with copywriting ability and products. Clearly, I am no longer recommending that. Possessing your own product and authoring ability both contribute to your understanding of how to generate traffic. Nowadays, I concentrate on all three facets of your Internet business and strongly advise you to do the same.

Having said that, never underestimate the traffic business. Consider the following. Who is the world’s wealthiest man? Right. Gates, Bill. He is a software vendor. Software is a profitable endeavor! Consider this, however. Which three websites are the most popular on the Internet? If you’re unsure, check with Alexa. Acceptable; do not verify. I’ll simply state:

Yahoo!

Google

MSN (Microsoft)

Consider the third one. That is the corporation that Bill Gates (the world’s richest man; remember?) founded. Now he’s tinkering on the Internet at the #3 position.

Now, let us make a leap. What are the three websites selling? Allow a moment for this one. There will be an examination.

That is correct. They sell traffic (or, more precisely, they sell traffic… Yahoo and MSN are slightly more diversified). Isn’t that intriguing… The world’s wealthiest billionaire… who got there by selling software... now wants to sell traffic.

That was merely a diversion. We’ll return to that point later. I wanted to share with you my experience selling traffic (which is still the largest part of my business). I made an error. I sold traffic anonymously under the guise of a corporation. None of my traffic customers are aware of my identity. They are simply purchasing traffic from XYZ Corporation since it generates revenue for them. XYZ Corporation is completely personality less. Indeed, it is completely automated, and the majority of my customers seem to prefer it that way.

I attempted to change that a few years back. I began sending them emails instructing them on how to maximize their use of my traffic service. I arrived too late. They were unfamiliar with me and were uninterested in hearing from me.

Then I made one final attempt (which I’m pleased I did) by offering them a traffic special for that month. I believe I got a two-for-one bargain or something like. That day, almost 25% of my consumers purchased a new campaign. With that single email, I earned nearly $60,000 in a single day. That I thought was cool! I continue to do so. I can generate thousands of dollars in a single day by writing a single email. That, I believe, appeals to a large number of marketers.

Your customer list possesses immense power! If a sales page converts 2% of strangers into customers, it can convert 25% of existing customers into clients of another product using the same sales page. That is quite effective!

I experimented with a different product. It was an excellent product. It belonged to me. It was the search engine study that resulted in the purchase of the traffic by those customers. In effect, I offered to educate them how to get the same type of traffic that I was selling. It was a colossal failure. Nobody purchased. I experimented with various other products. Nothing. Why?

Several of the comments immediately informed me. Despite the fact that I was writing under the firm name, they were unfamiliar with me. That I will repeat. They were unfamiliar with me. They were familiar with my business. They were aware that my company provided high-converting traffic, but they were unfamiliar with me. A company’s endorsement by another is not very persuasive. It is not nearly as potent as a personal recommendation.

As a result, I continued to participate in the Freedom Events. You are aware of how they ended. They sold out based on the endorsement of a few well-known Internet marketers. A lesson has been learned. To obtain the 25% figure, one of the following is required:

1. To market to your customers as a business and to sell a special deal on a product that your consumers are already familiar with.

2. To market to your consumers on an individual basis and to sell a special deal on any product you personally promote... and you have never previously issued a negative endorsement of a product to your customers.

I want to accomplish it with my own consumers… not with those of another Internet marketer.

What is the most effective method for accomplishing this? As I see it, a blog is the ideal platform for it. I also promote this site because I sell things (and cross-market them on the owner’s pages). This is something I do very early in the process. It is indicated on the owner’s page and in the very first email that the majority of people receive after purchasing one of my items.

They purchase the product from a stranger, but I quickly expose myself as the creator by directing them (you) to my blog.

Then I won’t have to conceal the blog under a business image. You do purchase my products from a corporation, but do you even recognize the corporation’s name? What difference does it make what it is called? I want you to become acquainted with me. That is the raison d’être of this blog.

Now, some people discover this site prior to purchasing one of my goods. That is OK as well. Certain individuals purchase a product only on the basis of the sales page. Some purchase because they are confident the author will never make trash. Some are motivated by a mix of these factors.

Therefore, you should establish a blog. I recommend starting your blog between your third and fourth products in your major market. That is when I began writing this blog. This is also the time to begin cross-promoting your three or four products on their respective owner’s pages.

Additional points that I believe are critical include the following:

1. Register your blog’s domain name in your name.

2. Start with your name, not some cutesy blog name.

3. Offer a piece of yourself. Do not write on your blog as if you were a customer care representative for a huge firm… never disclosing anything about yourself… Only the corporate script is available. Communicate with your consumers as if they were close friends. Keep your home address and phone number private, but within the framework of the blog, what are you frightened of? Allow your blog readers to become acquainted with you.

4. Post frequently. Individuals can simply develop a daily or hourly routine. Developing a weekly or monthly habit is far more challenging. Post at least everyday so that your blog visitors develop the habit of reading what you have to say on a daily basis.

5. Do not be concerned about disclosing your items’ secrets. That is one of the reasons I am currently exclusively selling software, video, and mentorship products. It is just not possible to give out too much text on your site by accident. Both software and video are more robust than text. I could spend all day explaining how to accomplish something… it would still be beneficial to get the software to automate the task and/or the movie to see how it all works.

6. Include a subscription link on your blog (and all of your content sites). Some people will desire to subscribe to your blog but will forget. You must provide them with a method for receiving notifications when you post. This will result in a significant increase in the number of repeat visitors over time.

That, I believe, addresses the question of why I have a blog and why you should as well… as well as how you should get one up. Now, I can discuss the methods for generating visitors to a blog that are unique to blogs and not to other sorts of websites. That will be addressed in a subsequent piece.

For the time being, go ahead and register your domain and install WordPress on it. Set up your subscription link. Compose an article and publish it on your blog… and then submit it using Artemis Pro, referencing your blog in the article’s resource box. That is how I began little over two months ago, and as of today… I’m on the verge of breaking into the top 10,000 most viewed websites on the Internet.

Are you Effectively Blogging?

Perhaps “blogging” is not the most polite term. Personally, it sounds like a tedious drudgery in the same way that cereals may become soggy, skies can become cloudy, and minds can become sluggish. However, it is too late to rebrand this abbreviation for web-logging at the moment. Despite this, widespread blogging is one of the most enthralling Internet phenomena of the last few years. As a medium, it fosters the emergence of numerous new and deserving voices and exerts a fresh and significant influence on the formation of attitudes, political realities, trends, and even our language.

I feel that a blog is merely a vehicle for someone with something to say to express themselves. To be clear, a blog is an inadequate medium for someone who requires a megaphone to broadcast their message to cyberspace in order to generate meaningful responses from Internet users. If you’re looking for immediate attention and expect blogging to provide it, you’re in for a rude awakening. However, if you enjoy writing and engaging others in discussion on topics over which you have some command or knowledge, this is an excellent application for connecting with individuals who share your interests. The buzz is justified.

Regardless, here is a list of blogging tips…

1.) Be timely.

The message’s coherence is not optional. Readers may or may not be interested in your subject, but if your message is haphazard, few will remember to return to your site because it effectively offers nothing. This is not to say that blogs cannot switch topics. For example, a blog with a funny bent has unlimited topic matter options, but it would be silly for such a blog to toggle the comedy on and off. In this case, comedy serves as the glue that holds the content together, as the blog’s power. The beauty of remaining focused and on topic is that, owing to the nature of the Internet, you will ultimately attract those who are only interested in your subject. (in contrast to online journals. There are millions of them on the internet, but only a small percentage have readers. If I’m wrong, email me with examples and I’ll be able to demonstrate why you’re showing me a blog and not a journal.)

2.) Updating your content.

Establish and adhere to a schedule. Recognize that blogging involves time and work and avoid setting unreasonable goals that you will be unable to meet. While an occasional hiatus or vacation is understandable, readers returning to find stale, out-of-date information are likely to seek out another site with similar content. Daily, new blogs and RSS feeds are created. If you’ve worked hard to build an audience and a community, the last thing you want is to lose them due to a breakdown in communication.

And keep in mind that what is old is not new and so uninteresting for bloggers. 2006 is not the year to go on the offensive against Enron or Vanilla Ice. Insight is largely irrelevant to yesterday’s news.

3.) It’s Important to Use Plain Language.

Blessed is the blog that follows a logical path. Write without inside jokes, catchphrases from cliques, or confusing logic. Readers who are unfamiliar with your message must be drawn in. They are more inclined to return to blogs that have a favorable impact on them. If the first read is perplexing, there will be no second.

4.) Provide feed for the Spiders.

Active blogs are noticed by search engines, and blog search engines are particularly receptive to activity. At the very least, search engines are more intelligent now than they were yesterday and are continuing to improve. They strive to accumulate quality by constantly improving; quality blogs are updated several times a week, if not daily, as opposed to once or twice a month. I’m not trying to scare you, but there is a large spider watching, so dance for them.

5.) RSS feeds.

Consider RSS to be a kind of magic for the blogging world, as that is precisely the effect it has had. RSS feeds enable you to exponentially increase the volume of your message to the interested. These feeds are an excellent way to boost your original content’s dissemination and readership.

6.) Check your spelling.

Hey, guy, remember to use the spell-checker. I do – otherwise, you would not have made it to #6. It takes less than a minute and can help you avoid appearing as a hack.

At start, your weblog’s viewership will be small. And, to be honest, that is how it should be. Who are you to believe that the entire internet will flock to you after three or four blog posts?

If you persevere while keeping a high standard of quality, readership will materialize. You will link to quality, relevant blogs, and they will link to you in return. While your voice may be unique, your niche is unlikely to be, and if your content is distributed intelligently over the Internet, those relevant readers will respond via readership and interaction. That I assure you.

Myths Regarding Blogging

Certain myths have developed surrounding blogs, bloggers, and the blogosphere as a whole. Here are a few of them, along with some clarifications:

A blog can be started by anyone! Not just anyone, however! There are certain prerequisites, some of which are more self-evident than others. Obviously, you’ll need a computer that you’re familiar with, an Internet connection, and some prior Internet expertise. Additionally, you’ll need a blog host; some are free, while others charge a little monthly fee. One final prerequisite is not only the skill but also the willingness to convey your opinions.

A blog can be created by anyone! Certain blogs are significantly easier to set up and maintain than others; this is dependent on your blog provider (e.g., blogger,  typepad, etc.). While some blog providers guide you through a few straightforward setup steps and then let you write your first post, others are far more sophisticated than the ordinary user is prepared for.

Blogging does not require a lot of time! That is dependent! Certain posts, when you have a clear notion of what you want to say, may take only a few minutes, while others may take days (literally) to complete due to the complexity of the subject or ideas. By and large, blogging is a daily activity for dedicated bloggers (some write up to 10 posts per day) and a weekly activity for casual bloggers.

The majority of blogs are political in nature! Many blogs are political in nature, but the majority are simply bloggers chronicling their lives, loves, and travels.

Blogs compete with the traditional news media! This is true in a small number of instances (not as many cases as bloggers would have you think). Recently, several extremely popular and prominent social and political blogs prompted mainstream media agencies to retract and alter their coverage of significant events.

Bloggers merely criticize and provide no fresh information! This may be true in certain instances, but blogging has evolved into much more than a personal activity. Corporations, news organizations, public figures, politicians, and experts in virtually every profession have all joined the ranks of blog creators in recent years. With all of this skill, one would have to conclude that bloggers bring a wealth of new information to any debate.

Nothing you read on a blog is true! That is a slight exaggeration. You’re bound to come across inaccurate information and even deliberate falsehoods on blogs, but for the most part, bloggers who state facts are stating what they believe to be true. It is always the readers’ responsibility to verify that any information they receive is accurate.

The blogosphere is an egalitarian society! Isn’t it true that the cream rises to the top? Of course, but outside of the dairy industry, a great deal depends on how you define cream. If you consider the most popular bloggers to be the “best,” then yes, the blogosphere is a meritocracy, with readership serving as the’reward’ for being the greatest. However, the best are not usually the most popular. While surfing, you will come across some incredibly clever, extremely poignant, and extremely erudite writers that have relatively limited readerships, as indicated by their postings receiving few, if any, comments. That can be explained by those bloggers’ unwillingness to ‘play the game’ of attracting a large readership, which includes aggressively promoting their blogs, spending many times as much time reading and commenting on other people’s blogs as they do writing their own, and listing their blog in every available directory. Each of us has a unique definition of success; for some, having a large readership is sufficient success; for others, using their blog as a means of income and actually earning money is the ultimate success; and for others, such as those who maintain an intentionally low profile, simply creating posts that are perfect expressions of what they want to say is sufficient reward.
